Any organisation whose group made $10M or more in revenue in its latest financial year, or has raised $10M or more from investors. Below both, EventCatalog is free, with every feature, including generators, plugins and federation. Individuals, open source projects, and universities for teaching and research are free, on the conditions in the licence. This is a summary. The licence is the binding text; the licensing FAQ explains the details.

Generators, plugins, SSO and integrations are included on every plan, including for organisations that qualify for Free Use. Federation is not. Organisations that qualify for Free Use (under $10M revenue and under $10M raised) get federation free under the licence, as is, with no contract and no support. On a paid plan, federation is Enterprise only. Business does not include federation in production. Business is the right to use EventCatalog above the free-use thresholds, plus email support and our terms. Enterprise adds federation, a team count agreed with you, a signed Enterprise Agreement, a first response within 1 business day, a dedicated contact, an optional private Slack or Discord channel in your workspace, and an optional monthly call.

A team is a standing group that works together under one lead, like a squad, product team or platform team. It counts if anyone in it uses EventCatalog as part of their work, reading or contributing, whether or not the team owns anything in the catalog. A department counts as the teams inside it. Someone occasionally opening a link another team shared doesn't make their team count. Using EventCatalog through an AI assistant counts the same as using it directly, but CI pipelines and other automation never add a team. People outside your organisation with read-only access, such as partners, suppliers or clients, don't count. Count them the way your organisation already does. You tell us your number, and we review it together at renewal.

Think about the part of your architecture you want to document, and the teams that will read or contribute to the catalog: the teams building those services, the teams integrating with them, and the architects or platform team looking after it. That's your number. Once you're up and running, your licence page shows how many teams own something in the catalog as a guide. Teams that use the catalog without owning anything in it still count. It's your estimate, confirmed once a year.

We don't change your price mid-year. At renewal we review with you how many teams use the catalog, and next year's price comes from that band. Going from 4 to 12 teams would usually mean moving from the Team band ($5,995) to the Department band ($11,995).

Business covers up to 30 teams. Above 30 teams, you move to Enterprise, which starts at $24,995 a year and scales with the number of teams, agreed with you. If you grow past 30 teams during the year, your price doesn't change until renewal. You can also choose Enterprise at any size if you want federation, a signed Enterprise Agreement, with the contract changes you propose reviewed, procurement and security reviews, or faster support, and you can move to it at any time, with the difference pro-rated.

Business covers production use above the free-use thresholds, without federation, plus email support and our terms. Enterprise adds federation (team catalogs in one organisation-wide view), a team count agreed with you, a signed Enterprise Agreement, with the contract changes you propose reviewed, a first response within 1 business day, a dedicated contact, an optional private Slack or Discord channel in your workspace, an optional monthly call, and help with security questionnaires and vendor onboarding. Our DPA forms part of every paid contract, and the Security Pack and an insurance certificate are available on request. Enterprise starts at $24,995 a year and scales with the number of teams, agreed with you, at any size.

No. Price follows how many teams use the catalog, and one team pays the same as another team on the same plan. Above 30 teams, Enterprise is priced by the number of teams, agreed with you. Organisations that want federation or a signed agreement usually choose Enterprise.

No. Agents acting for your people (Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or your own agents over MCP and llms.txt) are included, however many requests they make.

Sixty days covers most roll-outs, including security review and procurement. Need more? Ask us to extend your evaluation. Tell us who's sponsoring it, what success looks like and when you'll decide. When an evaluation ends, your catalog keeps building. You'll see a reminder and have 30 more days to buy a licence or stop production use.

EventCatalog is self-hosted, so there's no uptime for us to guarantee. Our support targets cover how quickly we first respond: within 1 business day on Enterprise and 3 business days on Business, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm UK time. They are targets of effort, with no service credits. Serious security issues are fixed as a priority. We do not commit to a fixed time for a security fix. We email commercial customers about high and critical security issues, with the fixed version, as soon as a fix is available.

Yes. Any entity in the group can sign, and it counts only its own teams. Whether you're free is decided by the whole group's revenue and funding.
